'It is not possible to reproduce in a pageant precise detail of actual happenings, even if they could be discovered. What we can do is make an effort to reproduce the atmosphere and feeling on the different periods, and string them together the various great happenings with a thread of the eternal.'

Amanda worked with Kings College London on their, 'Redress of the Past' project. She was invited to research, arrange and perform songs featured in some historical pageants. She had the opportunity to work with Trestle Theatre Company, recreating some scenes from St Albans' pageants.

The Jacobean song, Charlie Is My Darling was performed in the Carlisle pageant of 1928, episode VIII. This version is lifted straight from the pageant musical score, 1928 and 1951 created by F. W. Wadley.

The 15th Century Agincourt Song pops up in two of St Alban's pageants, 1948 and 1953. Episode IV, Holy Day, 1440 (visit of Henry VI to St Albans Abbey) 1948 pageant. Arrangement by L Covey Crump.

Greensleeves was performed in St Albans Pageant of 1953, episode VIII with Queen Eilzabeth's visit at Gorhambury, 1572. It may have been performed as a dance but unable to find Lewis Covey Crump's arrangement, Amanda researched song versions. A New Courtly Sonet of The Lady Green Sleeves in Handful of Pleasant Delights dated 1584, page 17-19. (PDF available at the bottom of the page). In The Arnold Book of Old Songs, John Irvine set his poem to an arrangement of the melody.

Phylis Was A Fair Maide was performed in St Albans Pageant, episode VII. It was composed by Giles Earle, 1615. The first verse was located at The British Library. A curator at The British Library found a second verse from Gwynn Williams' Three Elizabethan Songs published in 1938.
Axbridge Pageant in Somerset was due to take place August 2020 but is now postponed until 2022. Rehearsals will start again early 2022. Amanda will be involved in two scenes, and will sing Our Captain Cried All Hands and The Hiring Fair.
Our Captain Cried All Hands was sung by Emma O'verd for Cecil Sharp at Langport, June 1904.

Amanda will research and record songs to accompany scenes in the film. This work has been postponed due to Covid - 19. Windrose has some rare footage of Sherborne Pageant from 1905.
